Registration
Q: Does SJMUN permit dual or double delegations (where two delegates from the same school represent the same country at the same time at a conference)?
A: SJMUN XXIV has a special joint committee that permits a dual delegation. This joint committee is the only such committee in which delegates from the same school may represent the same country at the conference.
Q: What are the registration deadlines and conference fees?
A: The registration deadline is tentatively October 1st, and the only conference fee is the $10 per delegate attendance cost. There is no registration fee.
Q: What is SJMUN's policy with regard to single-delegate delegations?
A: SJMUN allows single-delegate delegations with the sole condition that the single-delegate be registered and accompanied by an adult advisor, such as a teacher. This condition is not exclusive to single-delegate delegations: all delegations, regardless of size, must be accompanied by an adult advisor.
Q: How does my delegation pay its attendance cost?
A: After your school has registered and confirmed the number of attending delegates, SJMUN will send your school an invoice concerning payment for the conference. SJMUN accepts cash and checks for payment, and any payment (if not brought the day of the conference) should be mailed to 1401 Laurel Oak Rd. Voorhees, NJ, 08043 and addressed to Tracey Palmer. All checks should be made out to ECCRSD.
Q: How are countries and committees assigned?
A: Committees and countries are assigned by the Secretaries General via email shortly after your school's registration.
Q: How are Chairs selected for SJMUN?
A: There are two Chairs for every committee at SJMUN. One Chair will be a member of Eastern's Model United Nations team, and the other Chair will be a "visiting Chair." A visiting Chair is a student from an attending school that has requested to act as a Chair instead of as a delegate. The visiting Chairs will be notified of their selection as Chairs when their respective schools are notified about country and committee assignments.
